Activities at the Château


Dynamic or more relaxing, Château d'Étoges offers a catalog of activities, indoors or outdoors.

Thus, venture into the Champagne countryside on one of our All-Terrain Bikes (freely accessible and non-reservable), or enjoy the leisure facilities offered by the château, such as a ping-pong table, a petanque set, foosball, various card and board games, or a chess set.

The Spa and its treatments (by reservation) will give your stay a calmer and more peaceful note but will equally contribute to your escape.

Caves & Champagne Activities


— 1. Visit a winemaker near Château d'Étoges:

Several winemakers can welcome you (generally without an appointment) for a cellar tour in our village or a neighboring village.
• Champagne Borel Lucas in Étoges. Open from 9 AM to 12 PM and from 2 PM to 7 PM
• Champagne Breton & Sons in Congy: Open from 9 AM to 12 PM and from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM
After visiting the cellar, you will discover the ancestral method of making champagne and even taste the famous cuvées…

— 2. Visit the Champagne Houses

— 3. The Champagne Tourist Route

Through vineyards and woods, this tour takes in the three main Champagne-producing areas: the Côte des Blancs, the Marne Valley and the Montagne de Reims. Along the way, you'll also discover ancient churches, châteaux and typical Champagne villages such as Hauvillers and Cramant.

History & Heritage Activities


— REIMS & UNESCO World Heritage

One of the most beautiful in France, the Gothic art Masterpiece where the King of France were crowned, was one of the first monuments registered as an UNESCO World Heritage site.

The basilique Saint Remi and the "Palais de Tau" museum, also registered as Unesco site, where the cathedral treasures are displayed.

— TOURISM OF MEMORY: World War I sites

In the village of Dormans, at 30 km from Etoges, the "Mémorial des Batailles de la Marne" (Battles of the Marne Memorial) is a commemorative chapel built to perpetuate the memory of the Battle of the Marne.
Nearby, you will discover many necropolis, cemeteries and memorials:
American: World War I Chateau-Thierry Monument & Oise-Aisne Memorial
German: Dormans German military cemetery & Belleau German military cemetery
British: La Ferte sous Jouarre Memorial
About one hour from Etoges, you will recognize the famous place of the Battle of Verdun, one of the major battles during the First World War on the Western Front.

— NATURE & CHATEAUX

Faux de Verzy: An enchanted forest of gnarled and unusual trees on the Reims Mountain, about 35 minutes from the Chateau.
The Château de Montmort (5 minutes - no visit) and the Château de Condé (25 minutes) these chateaux are well worth a detour.

— TROYES

At 80 km on the way to the south, you will arrived in Troyes, a important medieval city during the Middle age and famous for its "Foire de Champagne". Many half-timbered houses (mainly of the 16th century) survive in the old town.

Troyes is also world known as production headquarters for Lacoste, Coq Sportif, Petit Bateau; it is become nowadays the European capital of factory outlet shops.
